Healthcare in Vietnam are mainly through pharmacies which come in small counters or side shops around the main cities. The overall quality of health in Vietnam is considered to be quite good as life expectancy is recorded to be around 70 years old and with about 26 per 1000 births of infant mortality, it has numbers which are quite good in today’s standards. Due to budgetary constraints, the Vietnam government still relies heavily on the public sector to help in providing healthcare to the people in many ways. While government clinics are available, they are still shortage of staff and resources to cater to the big population of Vietnam.

The main problems with health in Vietnam is on malnutrition which are very common especially among the smaller and lesser known provinces. In the major cities of Vietnam, medicine and health supplements are widely available through pharmacies around as city dwellers become more health conscious due to the air condition which at times could be quite bad. However, in smaller provinces, without public awareness or education, the healthcare need seemed to be less important. It is reported that in Vietnam, the expenditure and budget for healthcare still fall below the acceptable level where the government of Vietnam’s subsides in this sector is still quite low.
