Vinamilk is perhaps one of the most distinguished brands in Vietnam. The public/state owned company was first established in 1976 to offer dairy products to the general public in the country. The government of Vietnam currently owns 47.6% of the company. It is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City where they are involved with the beverages sector and is the biggest dairy company in the country. Vinamilk Corporation is the 15th largest company and is the first Vietnam company to be listed in Forbes recent Asia’s 200 Best Under A Billion list.
It was first established as Southern Coffee-Dairy Company before it was changed to United Enterprises of Milk Coffee Cookies and Candies in 1978. In 1993, it formalized the name to Vietnam Dairy Company and was listed in the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange in 2003. As the name suggests, the fundamental product of the company is in the dairy beverages that include milk and soya drinks while the company is also involved with the production and distribution of other related products like powdered milk, condensed milk, ice-cream, fruit juices, coffee and yogurt. The company also exports some of their products to other countries including the Philippines, Australia, the Middle East and neighbouring countries like Cambodia.
